Can anything be done to reduce your lighting costs?

Yes, by solving two problems associated with conventional lighting.

Your lighting costs aren’t going where you think

The Problem

Up to 95% of your light is actually heat

A conventional incandescent light bulb converts up to 95% of the energy it uses to heat, not light.

This technology is being phased out, but in 2010 it still had a 52%* share of the commercial lighting market.

Halogen, Metal Halide, High Pressure Sodium and Fluorescent technologies offer efficiency improvements, but well over half of what we spend on lighting is still being wasted on heat.

The Solution

Switching to LEDs is cool

Eluma transforms your lighting into an efficient, intelligent system that reduces energy costs by up to 50%. This is initially achieved by replacing old bulbs with LEDs. For example, exchanging a standard 35W fluorescent tube with a T8 LED will immediately cut energy consumption in half.

Eluma LEDs have an operating life of 50,000+ hours (vs. 20,000 for a standard fluorescent) leading to significant savings in replacement and maintenance costs. LEDs also run cooler, giving air conditioning

Lighting is only as intelligent as its users

The Problem

Is user behaviour letting you down?

Turning lights off isn’t hard – yet unoccupied areas of buildings are routinely flooded with artificial light because of poor user behaviour. Just drive through any city at night and the problem is clearly visible.

Even when occupied, areas are frequently over-illuminated with a higher light intensity than is appropriate. Natural light levels differ throughout the day, but even when it’s sufficient for working, users fail to compensate by turning lights down or switching them off.

The Solution

Let your lights do the thinking

With Eluma you can create substantial savings by making your lighting more intelligent. This is achieved through the strategic installation of state-of-the-art sensors. Eluma Occupancy sensors ensure that lights are turned off automatically when they aren’t needed.

Eluma Daylight Harvesting sensors switch off your lighting when they detect sufficient natural light. They’ll also respond dynamically to changes in that light by intelligently adjusting intensity to maintain perfect lighting levels.
